At the accident site, the brothers discovered a sinking chopper and four passengers in need of rescue.

According to Gabbert, he could pull two individuals from the water and onto his jet ski, while his brothers assisted the third one. According to him, a fourth person was rescued by officials, who came in record time.

Gabbert states that he is no hero, but is delighted he was present at the appropriate time.

He stated, "I was doing the right thing." "You guys would behave identically in such a case. I was in the circumstance, and happily, everything worked out OK.
