Throughout his whole upbringing, Fred Durst was raised as a Wiccan.

By 12, Durst had been enamoured with hip hop culture. He learned how to breakdance, rap, skateboard, beatbox, and DJ. However, he also grew charmed by heavy metal and punk rock. After leaving high school, Fred Durst joined the US Navy

But departed after only two years. After moving back home with his father in Jacksonville, Durst worked as a landscaper and tattoo artist. It was during this time that he started tinkering with the notion of creating a band that merged both hip hop and rock into one genre.

The band also released an underground album titled "The Unquestionable Truth" and a compilation album of their greatest songs.

Durst turned his attention away from Limp Bizkit and into a career in filmmaking after the band's breakup. Before directing "The Education of Charlie Banks," he acted in "Population 436." In 2008, he released "The Longshots," his follow-up film. In 2009, Limp Bizkit reunited and went on tour with a variety of other bands. The Fanatic, starring John Travolta, was Durst's first film project in 2018.
