Aquaman 2 petition reaches 4.5 million

According To Uswhispers Director James Wan confirmed earlier this year that filming on the DC sequel, which stars Amber Heard as Aquaman's love interest Mera, had wrapped up in January.

The petition has announced a new goal of 6 million signatures, which would make it one of the most popular online petitions on Change.org.

After Depp's departure from the Fantastic Beasts film series in November 2020, the petition gained traction and gathered 1.5 million signatures.

However, the trial of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard brought it back to life. It's been reported that Johnny Depp has filed a lawsuit against Reese Heard for $50 million (£40 million) after she accused him of domestic violence in an op-ed for the Washington Post that was published in 2018.

Heard countersued for $100 million (£80 million), accusing him of orchestrating a "smear campaign" against her and describing his own lawsuit as a continuation of "abuse and harassment".

Heard was found guilty of all three counts of defamation by the jury on Wednesday.

Actor Dolph Lundgren, a longtime friend of Heard's, recently spoke out about the petition's popularity, and he said that the actor was "great."

"I had the pleasure of working with her on the first Aquaman, and now we're working on the second one. "London was where we shot last fall," he said. "She's fantastic, and I had a wonderful time working with her. Despite her appearance, she's a genuinely nice person, and she's always willing to help out her coworkers.

As a result of Depp's team dismissing her abuse claims, Heard claims her role in Aquaman 2 was significantly reduced. In order to remain in the film, I fought very hard." She said, "They didn't want to include me in the movie."
